Dental Treatment of Uninsured Tuberculous Patients.
The Council decided in 1932 that cases of uninsured persons
attending the Tuberculosis and Chest Clinic and recommended for
dental treatment should be dealt with through the local dentists,
providing the fees charged did not exceed those provided for under
the National Health Insurance Regulations.
During 1933, seven such patients received dental treatment
at the expense of the Council, after the financial circumstances of
the families had been investigated.

“HARTS” SANATORIUM.
Dr. Cheater reports as follows:—
In 1933 the number of patients discharged was 108 (66 males,
38 females, 4 children). Of these 79 were insured (59 males, 20
females), and 25 non-insured (7 males, 18 females).
Deaths 11 (included in the 108 above).
Average duration of treatment 27.94 weeks.
Number of patient days 21,336.
Number of beds available at end of year, 80.
Average number of beds occupied January 1st to October
23rd, 55.54 (99.2 per cent.).
Average number of beds occupied October 23rd to December
31st, 70.94 (88.7 per cent.).
