cloths, underwear, knitted goods, etc., and the buyers of these
articles have expressed surprise and satisfaction at the way these
goods have been made and finished by the young men and women
in attendance at the Centre.
Good results are noticeable with some of the younger children
and improvement in general behaviour, speech and concentration is
apparent.
The Annual Christmas Party and Exhibition of Work was
held, the Mayor, the Mayoress and many of the Council being
present. I am sure the members of the Corporation must have
realised the valuable work that is done at this Centre.
Miss Fooks retired on marriage in February last and Miss
Bleaden was appointed Supervisor and commenced duties in May,
1933.

BLIND PERSONS ACT, 1920.
The work of the East Ham Welfare Association for the Blind
has resulted in steady progress. All activities on behalf of these
sufferers have been well maintained and the Association records
the hearty co-operation of the East Ham Council and the Education
Committee in making an annual grant of £100 and providing
facilities for recreation and entertainment.
The Home Teacher and Visitor to the Blind, Miss Kingston,
has carried out her duties with tact, sympathy and efficiency.
The Council's Ophthalmic Specialist examines all new cases
and certifies where necessary.
