The accommodation and facilities for investigation are totally
inadequate to the proper performance of such important ameliorative
and preventive work.
Much thought has been given to the erection of a clinic on
modern lines, and plans have been submitted to the Ministry for
their consideration.
North Woolwich.
The facilities afforded by the Metropolitan Borough Council of
Woolwich at the new combined treatment centre in Fernhill Street,
North Woolwich, are more fully dealt with in the report to the
Education Committee.
The agreement entered into permits the use of this centre on
two occasions per week for the purposes of a minor ailments school
clinic, and one session per week for child welfare.
The arrangement is proving most satisfactory and is convenient
to the East Ham residents in the neighbourhood.
MENTAL DEFICIENCY ACTS, 1913-27.
The ascertainment and supervision of persons coming within
the scope of these Acts has been carried out satisfactorily.
Examination and certification, in addition to the completion of
reports and orders, occupies an important part of my duties.
Miss Hicks, the Ascertainment and Supervising Officer,
performed the following duties during the year under review:—
