Population.
All the rates per 1,000 of the population in this report are
based on the Registrar-General's estimate of the population to the
middle of 1933, viz.:—139,500, with the exception of the ward
rates, which are based on the census returns. The figure for 1932
was 141,500. It will thus be seen that the population according to
this estimate has declined by 2,000.
