During 1932, the Public Vaccinator carried out the following vaccinations :—

Number of successful primary vaccinations of children under one year of age539
Number of successful primary vaccinations of persons one year and upwards85
Total primary vaccinations624
Number of successful re-vaccinations35

The only observation I have to make on the working of the
Vaccination Acts is that the number of conscientious objectors
remains high.
Scarlet Fever.
The number of notifications received during the year totalled
779, the largest since 1928. As compared with the previous year
—245—the number has trebled itself. Fortunately the disease
was of a mild character, only two deaths resulting from this
cause. 717 of the patients were treated in hospital or 92.0 per
cent., compared with 69 per cent, for 1931.
Diphtheria.
Cases notified numbered 157, against 196 for 1931. Of this
number 155 received hospital treatment, equivalent to 98.7 per
cent., compared with 96 per cent, for the previous year. There
were 19 deaths assigned to Diphtheria, equal to a case mortality
of 12.2 per cent. There is no change in the arrangements for
the supplying of anti-toxin as outlined in previous reports.
Schick Immunization Clinic.
During the year 1932, 269 infants and children have received
three inoculations.
The total number of inoculations performed has been 883,
of which 69 were carried out by Private Medical Practitioners,
194 at the Maternity and Child Welfare Clinic and 620 at the
Town Hall Clinic.
