It is interesting- to note that in the year I commenced duties
with this Authority—1909—the estimated population was 149,575.
The child population 0-4 years included in the total 142,394,
was 9,823, 5-9 years 11,071, and 10-14 years 11,222. At the
other end of the scale there were 1,985 persons 75-79 years, 901
between 80-84 years, 306 between 85-89 years, 50 between 90-94
years, and six over 95 years.
