In the large summary table appended hereto will be seen
under item " smoke nuisance " that 31 nuisances have been scheduled.
These refer entirely to smoke nuisances arising from defective
kitchen ranges and other domestic stoves, which have been
dealt with under Section 91 of the Public Health Act.
Premises and Occupations controlled by Byelaws.
There is only one registered common lodging house for men
in the Borough, which is maintained in a satisfactory manner.
There are no underground sleeping rooms in East Ham.
The list of Byelaws, Regulations, etc., is given on pages
22-23 in the report for 1931.

Wanstead Flats is an open unfenced space under the control
of the City Corporation. The Royal Victoria Gardens is an
enclosed park abutting on to the River Thames under the control
of the London County Council, nine acres of which are in this
Borough, and one acre in the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich.
