cigarettes, spectacles, dentures, surgical appliances, and convalescent
treatment for a number of cases at the Blind Home at
St. Leonards-on-Sea is another part of the valuable work undertaken
by the Association during the year.
The Ladies' Clothing Sub-Committee provide clothing, boots,
etc. to all who need them.
During the year, one of the technically blind men has been
employed as Collector for the Association, and besides providing
a regular income to one of its blind cases, the effort has shown a
good result.
Besides the many other activities, the local Association opened
in November, 1931, a Social Club, which is held one afternoon
weekly at St. Bartholomew's Hall, and is well attended and much
enjoyed by the blind people.
In July, the Rotary Club of East Ham very kindly provided
white walking sticks for all those who desired them, and also provided
for a tea on that date.
The work of Miss Kingston, the Home Visitor and Teacher
of the Blind, is shown in the table below. It will be noticed that
the number of visits and lessons given have greatly increased.
