Mental Hospital.
The negotiations between this Council and that of the County
Borough of Southend, to erect a mental hospital to accommodate
patients from both boroughs, as mentioned in my report for last
year, concluded with an agreement between both councils to erect
such an institution. When this hospital is completed it will provide
for the reception of all the patients from both boroughs.

Mental Deficiency.
Although the same difficulty was met with during 1931 for
obtaining institutional treatment for these cases as outlined in
previous reports, it is hoped that during 1932, when West Ham
open part of their new institution at Ockendon that the situation
as regards these cases will be eased somewhat.
Orthopaedic, Ear, Nose and Throat, Puerperal Fever
and Pyrexia, and Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
The same arrangements for out-patient and in-patient hospital
treatment for these types of cases are in force as set out in my last
report.
