Maternity and Child Welfare.
Return relating to the Administration of Part L of the Children
Act, 1908, during the Year 1931.
I. Notification :—
(i) Number of foster parents on the Register :—

(ii) Number of children on the Register:—
(а) at the beginning of the year, 50.
(b) at the end of the year, 54.
(c) who died during the year, 1.
(d) on whom inquests were held during the year, Nil.
II. Visiting:—
(i) Number of Visitors holding appointments under Section 2 (2) at
the end of the year:—
(a) Health Visitors, 7.
(b) Female, other than Health Visitors, Nil.
(c) Male, Nil.
(ii) Number of persons or societies authorised to visit under the
proviso to Section 2 (2), 7.
III. Number of cases (if any) in which proceedings under Sections 1-8 were
taken during the year, Nil.
IV. Number of cases in which the local authority has given a sanction
under Section 3 during the year, Nil.
V. Number of orders under Section 5 obtained during the year, Nil.
PROPAGANDA.
During 1931 propaganda has been carried out by means of
leaflets, posters, articles and advertisements.
Advice on the following diseases was given by the methods
outlined above:—
Diphtheria (Immunization Clinic).
Cancer.
Small-pox.
Measles.
During the year under review, a number of lectures have been
given by Dr. Barker and myself, on health matters, to different
organisations in the Borough.
