and so indicating the need for caution. Still, the result as it
stands is distinctly encouraging.
I have also seen 15 cases of external eye disease, 3 being
cases of Conjunctivitis in the new-born infant, which attended my
clinic on discharge from the hospital or maternity home. All these
cases have done well and no impairment of vision has resulted.
No cases of congenital malformation have come for advice
this year.
During the past year, 1 have operated upon eight cases of
squint in children of school age with, I think, a good result in
most cases. For one, a case of bad vertical squint, something
further may have to be done. Five new cases have been recommended
for operative treatment.
May I, in conclusion, Sir, say how much I appreciate the
co-operation of my medical colleagues, the School Nurses, the
Health Visitor who attends the Infant Welfare Clinic, and also of
the Optician and the Clerical Staff. One and all have done their
best for the comfort of the patients, and towards making the
working of the clinic smooth and efficient.
I have the honour to remain, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
CHARLES LEONARD GIMBLETT.
