During- the year 1925, 437 cases were seen by the Aural Surgeon,
248 boys and 189 girls; these made together 927 attendances,
whilst the visits to the Treatment Clinics totalled 3,902.
All these figures show an increase in work as compared with
those of 1924.
Of these 437 cases, 315 were diagnosed as " Deaf," and 259
as having Discharging Ears, and in only 63 cases was improvement
of hearing noted, while those suffering from discharging ears are in
many cases incurable.
This leads one to lay great stress on the need for early treatment,
operative and otherwise, of all defective or catarrhal conditions
of nose and throat before infection has reached the ears and
while conditions are still curable.
In 127 cases an operation for the removal of Tonsils and
Adenoids was advised, and in this connection one can with satisfaction
draw attention to the very excellent operative treatment now
available at the Balaam-street Children's Hospital, where the great
majority of East Ham children are treated.

In conclusion, thanks are again due to the Sisters in Charge and the Clinic! Clerk for the excellent service rendered throughout the past year.
