community is benefited—although, as stated in my previous note,
under the present conditions of overcrowding in most cases it is
not possible to carry out the advice given.
The cases which from a public health point of view in my
opinion require nursing in an Institution are Class 3. These advanced
cases are a danger owing to their infectious condition,
which is accentuated by deficient housing accommodation.
Under the Public Health Act, 1925, Sec. 62, the Council may
apply for an order for compulsory removal to Hospital of such
cases, but as it is not convenient to nurse them at Harts Sanatorium,
no action has been taken in this respect.
