In addition to the above schedule, vaccination against rubella is
offered to all girls between their 11th and 14th birthdays, the purpose of
the campaign being to ensure that girls are offered protection against
rubella before child-bearing age because of the known association between
the development of foetal abormalities and rubella infection in pregnancy.
Management of vaccination and immunisation procedures by
computer was introduced during 1967 and continued to work well during
the year.
The following tables show the numbers of children under sixteen who
completed vaccination or immunisation during 1971. The figures compare
favourably with those for 1970.
