population was made up of 20,746, or 48.9 per cent., males, and 21,694,
or 51.1 per cent., females, the relative proportion of the sexes having
remained practically the same since 1871. In London generally the
proportion was 47.8 per cent. males and 52.7 per cent. females.

Compared with London there is in St. Luke a greater proportion of
persons under 20 years of age, the excess being most marked at the
younger ages; above 20 years the proportion is less than in London
generally.
