Unsound Food.
About 2 cwt. of mutton was examined and found to be
unfit for food, and was consequently destroyed. Five hundred
and twenty-eight head of poultry, one barrel of crabs, and one
bushel of whelks were also found unfit for food and were
destroyed.

In the 23rd Annual Report of the Medical Officer of the
Local Government Board for 1893-1894, some interesting
comments are made on the Vaccination officers returns for
1891, where it is shown that an increasing number of infants
escape vaccination every year:—
No less than 13.4 per cent. of the children born in that year
remain unaccounted for as regards vaccination. In the
Metropolis the percentage was 16.4. Both in the Metropolis
and in the rest of England the great increase in default under
the Vaccination Laws set in during 1889, the year that the
