Complaints

During the year 97 complaints were received regarding the condition of food purchased within the Borough, as follows:—

Confectionery11Cheese3
Chicken3Jam2

When considered against the quantities and the various natures of
the foodstuff involved in supplying a population in excess of 200,000,
the number of complaints is remarkably low and I feel reflects well on the
efforts that are made by the various trades and all concerned with matters
relating to hygiene and food supplies.
Bread continues to head the list but the 31 complaints received
involving this commodity has to be considered in relation to a figure
perhaps well in excess of seven million. Such would be the number of
loaves retailed annually in the Borough if each of the 70,000 units of
accommodation purchased less than two loaves per week.
