Residential Homes for the Aged
At the beginning of the year, eight residential homes were available
in the Borough giving accommodation for 331 persons. An additional
designated home for 60 persons was completed during the year and the
first resident admitted in September. Plans initiated by the former County
Council and inherited by the Borough were finalised during the year and
building work commenced in August for a further home situated in
Sancroft Road. This designated home will accommodate 54 persons and
is scheduled for completion in 1968.
