Deaths:
Number of deaths from diphtheria, 3.
The first case was a child of 9 years old, admitted on the third day
of the disease and died on the day of admission. The second was a
child of 6 years, admitted on the second day of the disease and died oneand-a-half
days later. The third was a child of 6 years, admitted on the
seventh day of the disease and died shortly after admission.
None of these three children had been immunised against diphtheria.
Complications :
Five patients suffered from palatal paralysis, one from facial paralysis,
one from otorrhoea and one from albuminuria. The heart musculature
was involved in one case.
