SCHOOL MEDICAL SERVICES.
The following information regarding the school medical services
in the district has been kindly supplied by the County School
Medical Officer.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
Medical Inspection.
The number of children on the roll at December 31st, 1938,
was 19,285. The following are the particulars of children inspected
during the year:—

Treatment of Minor Ailments.
The attendances at the clinics established for the treatment of
minor ailments were:—
Roxeth Hill Council School, South Harrow 1,878
Broadway Clinic, Wealdstone 3,049
Whitchurch Institute, Stanmore 899
Elmwood Avenue, Kenton 136
Pinner Park School 160
Treatment of Visual Defects.
424 children were refracted (including 118 re-tests) at the
ophthalmic clinic held at 76, Marlborough Hill, Wealdstone, and 39
other children examined. Spectacles were prescribed for 277
children and changes of lens in a further 12, while repairs to the
glasses of 106 children were arranged. Three cases of squint were
referred to hospital for operation, and nine children suffering from
other diseases of the eye were sent to hospital for treatment.
Dental Inspection and Treatment.
Particulars of the routine dental inspection of elementary
school children are set out below:—
