Infant Welfare Centres.
At the end of the year there were fourteen weekly sessions
held at eight separate premises in the district, namely two sessions
each at two places at which clinics had previously been held by
the Harrow-on-the-Hill Council, a similar number previously
maintained by the Wealdstone Council, and six sessions held at
four premises conducted by the Middlesex County Council. At
each clinic two Health Visitors are in attendance and a number of
voluntary workers kindly assist.

The following table shows the work done at the Infant Welfare Centres during the year :—

Percentage of notified live births represented by the number of children under one year of age who attended for the first time, 72.6.

Treatment.
The only treament services are those carried out by the Council
of Child Welfare at " Tyneholme," these including ultra-violet
therapy, massage, dental treatment, and the correction of visual
defects. The Council made a grant in respect of those treated
at " Tyneholme " who fell within the scope of the maternity and
child welfare services. There is no scheme for the treatment
and supervision of orthopaedic cases, and up to the end of the
year no arrangements made for the treatment of tonsils and
adenoids for necessitous cases.
250 children under 5 years of age made 580 attendances at
" Tyneholme " for dental treatment during the period April 1st,
1934, to March 31st, 1935. 85 nursing mothers made 197 attendances
for treatment, excluding 14 denture cases, who attended
44 times.
At the Eye Clinic at " Tyneholme " 16 children under 5 years
of age attended for the first time, 21 children making 42 attendances.
Seven nursing mothers made eight attendances.
35 new cases amongst children under five attended the Massage
Clinic, at which 36 cases made 466 attendances.
At the Sunlight Clinic 92 children, including 70 new cases,
made a total of 1,662 attendances.
