extent, at least, indebted to your Vestry for these benefits,
many of the advances in the Public Health administration to
which I have thus briefly referred, having had their origin in
proposals initiated in Kensington."
I trust it will be regarded as no more than a due* sense of
my appreciation and gratitude, to place on record the reference
made, by the Works and Sanitary Committee, to the attainment
of my "majority," to the following effect: "That the
Committee in submitting the (usual) statement of the work
performed in the Medical Officer's Department desire to
point out to the Vestry that Dr. Dudfield completed his
twenty-first year of service on the 26th April, and to state that
they have had much pleasure in offering him their congratulations
on the occasion, and of placing on record their appreciation
of the able, zealous, and conscientious manner in which
Dr. Dudfield has performed his duties during the time that he
has held the important office of Medical Officer of Health of
the Parish."
It now only remains for me, in bringing this Report to a
conclusion, to offer my thanks to all who have contributed,
by their assistance, to whatever success may have attended
our Public Health work during the past year. To your
Vestry I am indebted for continuance of the confidence
which, for twenty-two years, has enabled me to carry out,
with pleasure and satisfaction, the duties of my office,
and to superintend a Department of Local Administration the
importance of which is now universally recognised.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
T. ORME DUDFIELD,
Medical Officer of Health.

Town Hall,
