Conclusion.—It now only remains for me to offer my thanks to
all who have contributed by their assistance to whatever success
may have attended the work of my Department during the past
year.
I have already had occasion to refer to the co-operation of the
Board of Guardians. It would be impossible to over-value the
services rendered by them, through their officers, in measures for
preventing the spread of dangerous infectious disease, viz., by
securing the speedy removal of the sick.
The sub-district Registrars, Messrs. Barnes and Hume, and
the Vaccination Officer, Mr. Shattock, have, as usual, readily
complied with my applications for information on subjects connected
with their several duties.
The Sanitary Inspectors have discharged their onerous, and in
some respects perilous, duties with zeal, intelligence, and success.
To Mr. Rudman, the Sanitary Clerk, I am much indebted, among
other things, for assistance rendered in passing this Report
through the press. Mr. Packwood, temporary Assistant Clerk,
has done the clerical work in connection with "registration of
houses let in lodgings" to my entire satisfaction.
But above all, my thanks are due to your Vestry for continuance
of confidence which, now for fifteen years, has enabled me
to carry out, with pleasure and satisfaction, the duties of an
office, and to superintend the work of a department, the importance
of which, I believe, is now generally recognised.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
T. ORME DUDFIELD,
Medical Officer of Health.
Offices: Town Hall,
Kensington, W.,
June, 1886.
