Gentlemen,
In the ordinary course of events there would, owing to
my very recent appointment, have been no "Annual Report of the
Medical Officer of Health" for the year 1870 ; but the Census having
just made known the exact population of the Parish, the occasion
appeared to me especially suitable for a brief, and mainly statistical,
review of the state of the Public Health during the past year, and
during the decenniad 1861—70. Such a review, if it has no other
value, will at least furnish a basis for comparison in future years.
