Fifty Slaughlor Houses were licensed by the magistrates and three were
successfully opposed, as the premises were not adapted for the purpose
the houses licensed have been under the constant supcrvisionof Mr. Lovett,
the Inspector. The courts and alleys inhabited by the poor have been
from time to time cleansed and whitewashed, and the cow-sheds periodically
examined.
