Therefore 517 deaths from all lung diseases were registered during the
year. This is an increase of 81 over the year 1859 (136), and of 97
over 1856. The percentage this bears to the total numbers of deaths
ia 348.
The number of infants who died under 5 years of age, amounts to
585, or 394 per cent.; of the total deaths in 1859, the percentage was
36 8, and in 1858, over 42.
The number of deaths in the Workhouse was 33 males, 32 females.
Total, 65.

The births registered, amount to 2,016.

This gives a gain to the parish of 699 over the number of deaths.
It, is worthy of notice, that all the ipcrease to the population by
births, has again taken place in the Kensington district ; this, I believe,
is mainly owing to the fact that the registration of death is compulsory,
of birth voluntary.
