SURVEYOR'S REPORT.
Vestry Hall, Clerkenwell,
July 12th, 1866.
TO THE VESTRY OF ST. JAMES AND ST. JOHN,
CLERKENWELL.
Gentlemen,
I beg respectfully to submit the following Report
for the year ending Lady-day, 1866:—
SEWAGE AND SANITARY WORKS.
During this period 186 feet of 9-inch pipe sewer were laid
down in Cumberland Terrace.
5 sewers have been repaired, and 46 cleansed.
9 new gullies have been constructed, 4 trapped, 12 repaired,
and 241 cleansed.
32 house drains have been laid down, comprising 7 9-inch,
and 25 6-inch drains, while 37 houses have been drained.
27 cesspools have been destroyed and filled up, and waterclosets
substituted for them.
157 loads of soil have been taken out and removed from the
sewers and gullies. And
2 new urinals have been erected, viz.: 1 on Clerkenwell
Green, and 1 at the junction of Pentonville and King's Cross
Roads.
