INFANT MORTALITY
There were 38 infant deaths during the year, being one more
than in the previous year. The infant death rate was 17.6 compared
with 21.6 for England and Wales, and 22.0 for London.
The following Table gives details of the infant deaths in
Woolwich during 1961.

DEATHS FROM CANCER
Of the total number of deaths, 522 were from Cancer (excluding
Sarcoma), being 30 more than in the previous year.
Of these, 191 occurred in men, and 131 in women. More than
half the Cancer deaths (197) took place in hospitals.
