At the 31st December, 1957 there were 9,218 tenancies in
properties owned or controlled by the Council, 347 of these being
in Requisitioned Properties.
At the end of the year, there were 2,913 applicants on the
Housing Register, compared with 3,104 at the end of December, 1956.
The information on the housing progress in the Borough during
1957 has been kindly supplied by the Director of Housing#

PREMISES WHERE FOOD IS PREPARED AND OFFERED FOR SALE
A total of 2,342 inspections of food premises was carried
out during the year.
