Deaths.— Deaths from pulmonary tuberculosis during 1937 numbered 105,
giving a death rate of 0.70 per 1,000 of the population. The corresponding figures
for 1936 were 104 and 0.71 respectively. Deaths from non-pulmonary forms of
tuberculosis numbered 14 as against 12 for the preceding year, the death rate being
0.09 per 1,000 of the population. The total number of pulmonary and non-pulmonary
deaths was 119 and the combined mortality rate was 0.79. The following table
shows the number of deaths and death rates every year since 1933.
