Feeding of Infants in Woolwich.—In midsummer the usual enquiry was made,
as in previous years, as to the type of feeding adopted in the ease of infants attending
the welfare centres. The method used was as follows :—
(a) On the card of every child under one year of age attending a welfare centre
between the 18th May and the 1st July was inserted once, and once only,
the terms " Breast," or " Breast and Hand," or " Hand Fed."
(b) The child' s age was taken on the day on which this note was made.
(c) At the end of the period the results were summarised for the whole Borough
and the appropriate percentages worked out.
The results of the enquiry are shown in Table No. 11 on the adjoining page.
