Service, but exceptionally, cases are notified by medical practitioners and occasionally
cases are discovered by the health visitors in their routine visits.
Nursing.—One case was nursed under the Council's scheme, 14 visits in all
being paid. The cost of this service was 14/-.
Deaths.—-There were eight deaths certified to be due to this disease, compared
with two in 1935.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
Twenty-six cases were notified, seven of which were admitted to hospital.
Thirteen cases were nursed at home under the Council's scheme, 186 visits in all
being paid. The cost of this service was £9 6s. Od. The following Table No. 49
gives details of each case.
