Designated Milks.—Under the Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1923, the
Council are authorised to grant licences to persons other than a producer to sell
milk under the special designations. Each licence automatically terminates on
the last day of the year in which it is issued. In tabular form is shown below
certain information relating to this Order

(b) "Grade A (Tuberculin Tested)" 7

(d) "Grade A (Pasteurised)" 14

Number of supplementary licences issued to sell:—
(a) "Certified" milk 2

(c) "Grade A (Pasteurised)" milk 2
(d) "Pasteurised" milk 8
Bacteriological Examination of Milk.—During the year two samples of raw milk,
three of Certified milk, four of Grade A (Tuberculin Tested) milk, two of Grade A
(Pasteurised) milk and forty-six of Pasteurised Milk were bacteriologically examined,
in all instances except two, in order to ascertain whether they complied with the
standards prescribed by the Milk (Special Designations) Order, which are as
follows :—
Certified Milk Not more than 30,000 bacteria per c.c.
Bacillus coli not found in one-tenth c.c.
Grade A (Tuberculin Tested) Not more than 200,000 bacteria per c.c.
Milk. Bacillus coli not found in one-hundredth c.c.
Grade A (Pasteurised) Milk Nor more than 30,000 bacteria per c.c.
Bacillus coli not found in one-tenth c.c.
Pasteurised Milk Not more than 100,000 bacteria per c.c.
There are no standards for raw milk.
