Unsound Food. There were 281 instances of unsound food being surrendered.
These compare with 183 instances in 1930. No food was seized. Included in the
food surrendered were:— 1½ tons of Beef; 1 cwt. Mutton; 3 tons of Pork; 18
cwts. Ox Livers; 4 cwts. Ox Lungs; 2 cwts. Sheeps' Offal; 11 cwts. Pigs' Offal;
1 cwt. Fish; 2 cwts. Potatoes; and smaller quantities of Fruit, Rabbits, etc.
Sophistication of Food.— The following Table, No. 37, gives details of the
various analyses made under the Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act, Public Health
(Condensed Milk) Regulations, Public Health (Dried Milk) Regulations, and the
Public Health (Preservatives, etc., in Food) Regulations. Four samples were taken
on Sundays or public holidays, and these were found to be genuine.
