The rates St. Mary's, River and St. George's Wards, and Woolwich Parish, are
aicuiatea on the Civil population only; if the Military are included, these rates are substantially
lower; the birth rates becoming, respectively, 17.1, 14 1, 19.4 and 16.6, and the death rates
10.5, 10.4 and 11.6. The infantile mortality rates remain unchanged.
Births.
During the year 2,333 births were registered in the Borough, 1,190 being
males and 1,143 females. Corrected by outward (176 males and 195 females) and
inward (92 males and 101 females) transfers, these numbers become 2,155, 1,106
and 1,049 respectively.
The birth rate was 151, compared with 15 5 in 1930 and 16 3 in 1929.
Illegitimate Births.—The number of illegitimate births registered was 52.
ere were 16 inward transfers and 10 outward transfers, making a nett figure of
58, equivalent to 27 per 1,000 births.
