As in previous years, special arrangements were made
for the attendance of school children over 13 years of
age, one session being held at Eltham and two sessions
at the Town Hall. Three films were shewn and a special
talk was given by one of the assistant medical officers
at each session.
The attendances at Eltham were smaller, naturally
enough, than at Woolwich, but there is little doubt
that the experience gained there justifies a continuance
of the policy of holding Health Weeks in other parts of
the Borough than Woolwich, and we shall bear this point
in mind when the question of the organization of the
next Health Week comes to be considered. In all, the
total attendances were just short of 7,000.
The Council's own cinematograph machine was used
for projection throughout the week and proved highly
satisfactory.
The success of Health Week could not have been
achieved without the support of the Council, the loyal
co-operation of the staff and the assistance ungrudgingly
given by representatives of health and other organizations
within and without the Borough.
(b) Health Talks to School Children. In 1928 a series of
monthly talks to school children were arranged with the
co-operation of the Advisory Committee of School Teachers.
The series consisted of five meetings and the place of meeting
was at the Town Hall. The general arrangement was as
follows : a short talk of 15-18 minutes duration on a simple
health subject was given by an Assistant Medical Officer,
and then three or four health films were shown. In the
