MARRIAGES.
There were 996 marriages (1,252 in 1928). The marriage
rate was 14.1, as compared with 15.06, 16 01, 13 9 and 17.7
in the four preceding years.
DEATHS.
The total deaths registered in the district were 1,610.
This figure includes 194 non.residents who died in the district
but does not include 364 residents who died outside the
Borough. When allowance is made for inward and outward
transfers, the net figure of 1,780 is obtained. The death
rate for the year was 12 6. According to the figures published
by the Registrar General for the 52 weeks ended 29th
December, 1929, only one metropolitan borough had a lower
rate than Woolwich. In 1929 the death rate for England
and Wales was 13 4, and for London 13 8. The mean death
rate for the 107 great towns was 13 7.
