weighing the babies, recording the weights, giving out record
cards, looking after toddlers, etc. The help given by them
is invaluable, and is much appreciated by the mothers and by
the staff. To them is due much of the credit of the successful,
smooth, and harmonious working of the Centres.
New Centre. During the year plans were prepared for
the construction of a new infant welfare centre at Eltham.
Reference to the principles guiding the Council in the matter
will be found in the preface, and a full report on the new
centre will appear in next year's annual report. The site
chosen is on the Council's Housing Estate at the junction of
Westhorne Avenue and Briset Road.
The following Table No. 77 shews the numbers attending
each Centre, and the attendances made there, together with
comparative figures for 1928.
