MARRIAGES.
There were 977 marriages (1,136 in 1926). The marriage
rate was 13.9, as compared with 16.9, 15.7, 15.06 and 16.01
in the four preceding years.
DEATHS.
The total deaths registered in the district were 1,214.
This figure includes 82 non-residents who died in the district
but does not include 359 residents who died outside the
Borough. When allowance is made for inward and outward
transfers, the nett figure of 1,491 is obtained. The death
rate for the year was 10 6. In 1926 the corresponding rate
was 102. Accordinging to the figures published by the
Registrar General for the 52 weeks ending 31st December,
1927, no metropolitan borough had a lower rate than Woolwich.
This is an improvement on 1926, when Woolwich
took second place amongst metropolitan boroughs.
