to return to work. During the year one certificate was issued.
Multiple Cases. The following Table No. 32 shows the house
distribution, by wards, of cases of scarlet fever notified during
the year. The term "house" in this Table is synonymous
with the term "family" except in seven instances where two
families are involved.
The Ministry of Health have asked again this year for
information regarding the attack rate per 1,000 persons under
15, not known to have had a previous attack of the disease in
question, according as they are housed under different conditions—for
example: less than one person per room; one-two
persons per room; more than two persons per room. The
records do not give this information and so the Table has
been calculated showing the case rate according to the total
population living under these conditions at the time of the
Census, 1921. The record cards show the information required
by the Ministry for a portion of the year only, but steps have
been taken to ensure that, when the Annual Report for 1925
comes to be written, the information will be available.
