of well or tank, in some cases sunk below the surface, and
these were found to be suitable breeding places. Constant
attention was given to these places and as a result a considerable
diminution in the number of mosquitoes was noted. The
Borough Engineer made arrangements for the ditches to be
systematically sprayed with paraffin. The Council resolved,
in order to improve the ditches and mitigate the mosquito
nuisance so far as they were concerned, to concrete the inverts
of the ditches and provide a smooth surface. This work is
now in progress.
