SECTION VI.—LABORATORY WORK.
Analysis of Food and Drugs. The Public Analyst is Sir
W. R. Smith and the laboratory work in connection therewith
is carried out at the Royal Institute of Public Health.
The detailed results of analyses made will be found in the
section dealing with the Food and Drugs Acts.
Bacteriological Examinations. Bacteriological examinations
are carried out at the Seamen's Hospital, Greenwich. In
tabular form is shewn below the number and result of the
various examinations made during the year. For comparative
purposes the figures for 1921 are also given.

Anti-Toxin. Diphtheria anti-toxin is kept at the Town
Hall and the Plumstead and Eltham Free Libraries, and is
supplied to Medical Practitioners, on application, at cost
price, or free where there is inability to pay. The amount
supplied during the year was 64,000 units at a total cost of
£4 16s. 0d.
