Illegitimate Births. The following table, which is partly
compiled from statistics given in the Annual Report of the
Registrar General on Births, Deaths, and Marriages, shows
the number of illegitimate births each year since 1918, and
the illegitimate birth rate per 1,000 births.

MARRIAGES.
There were 1,138 marriages (1,174 in 1921). The marriage
rate was 165 as compared with 20.2, 19.8, 175 and
17.2 in the four preceding years.
