occurred, in 2 instances the other twin was born dead, and
in 1 case both twins were born dead. In the remaining cases
the enquiry was negative.
Other Work. In addition to these visits the Health
Visitors have made certain investigations into the cause of
infant deaths and have visited notified cases of ophthalmia
neonatorum, puerperal fever, and pneumonia in children
under 5 years of age. During the early part of the year
they also made visits to notified cases of tuberculosis, but
when the Borough Council took over the Tuberculosis Dispensary
in April, 1921, this work was transferred to the
Tuberculosis Visitors. The number of visits made to expectant
mothers was 263, compared with 201 in 1920 and 38 in
1918.
Co.operation with Sanitary Inspectors. Any sanitary defects
discovered by the Health Visitors in the course of their duty
have been referred to the Sanitary Inspectors for remedial
action. The number of instances in which defects were
Teported by them during the year was 195.

by the Health Visitors during the year 1920 and 1921.
