Bacteriological Examinations. During the year 714 specimens
of sputum were examined at the Dispensary, 553 of which
were negative and 161 positive. In addition to these, 206
specimens sent by medical practitioners, were examined
at the Seamen's Hospital, of which 168 were negative and
38 positive.
Institutional Treatment. The following Table shows the
number of cases admitted to hospitals and sanatoria and
Poor Law institutions and Training Colonies during the
year:—
