and in this connection there have been 20 instances in which
drains have been repaired on these lines at a total cost of
£24 19s. 2d., which amount has been paid by the owners of
the respective houses.
Nuisances Abated. These are set out below. The total
number of intimation notices served was 4,537, as compared
with 4,259 in 1920 and 2,470 in 1919. It was found necessary
to serve 1,403 statutory notices, as compared with 1,514 in
1920 and 846 in 1919. The number of cases reported to the
Town Clerk for legal proceedings was 250. 24 summonses
were taken out.
Inspections. Tables 13 and 14 show in tabular form, for
the whole district and for each ward, the various inspections
made, and nuisances abated during the year.
