As will be seen from the above Table, in 1920 the number
of deaths under 4 weeks per 1,000 births was 28, in 1921 it
was 23. These figures are low and are probably due in some
measure to the increased care and attention to expectant and
nursing mothers.
Table No. III. shows the deaths under 1 year, classified by
age and cause, for the year 1921.
