CAUSES OF DEATH.
Table II. shows that 182 deaths were due to cancer, 168 to
pulmonary tuberculosis, 149 to heart disease, 113 to bronchitis,
98 to pneumonia, 72 to cliarrhoeal diseases, and 70 to congenital
debility, etc. There is a very marked increase in the
deaths from diarrhoeal diseases and a very marked diminution
in the deaths from congenital debility.
Cancer and Malignant Disease.
The number of deaths due to cancer or malignant disease
(including sarcoma) each year since 1917 is shown in Table
No. 7.

The next Table. No. 8, shows the site of the primary
disease in all deaths from cancer (excluding other specified
malignant tumours).
