Through the courtesy of the Superintendent and Agent for
H.M. Office of Works, I am able to say that he has now a list
of 1,800 applicants for accommodation, but it is difficult to
appreciate the value of this, inasmuch as applicants may put
their names down on every available list, (e.g., the Council's
waiting list), and may neglect to have their names removed
if in the meantime they be suited. It is however found that
the demand for the hutments is a steady one. This is due to
the fact that the rent for a hut of 8/11 per week inclusive,
compares with the 14/9 or 20/3 for a new house.
127. New Houses. Water certificates were granted during
the year for the following new houses erected in the Borough:—

10 Pinewood Villas, Wickliam Lane 15th March.
