8. Illegitimate Births. 36 of the births registered were
illegitimate, giving a rate of 13 per 1,000 births, compared
with 22, 24, 20, 24, and 19, in the five preceding years.
-The illegitimate birth-rate in London was 34 in 1910.
Marriages.
9. There were 997 marriages. The marriage rate was
16-4, compared with 14 0 and 15 0 in the two preceding
years. The increase in the marriage rate is an indication
of improvement in local industrial conditions. In 1910, the
marriage rate in London was 16'0, and in tEngland and
Wales 14-8.

in 1911, and eacjh of the past ten years, and shows
how the net deaths are arrived at.
